The Brief
EKD provide interior spaces that are well planned, pleasant and enjoyable to work and live in - it’s what they do. They work to achieve the most they can for the client, within the project budget. By listening and responding to each of their clients, they create interiors that are tailored to meet their needs. Their aim is to express the client’s nature and values.
The Process
With this in mind we provided a fully responsive website that is simple in it’s structure and layout and focuses heavily on EKD’s excellent interiors, using hi-res imagery to instantly showcase their range of commercial and residential interiors. Primarily a showcase website, a full-height slider on the homepage provides immediate impact and displays their portfolio from the outset. Further detail is provided on the site, but in a pared-back, simple format, mirroring the aesthetic of EKD itself.
As a design firm themselves, it was imperative that we worked in partnership with EKD to ensure that we were best representing their brand. With a very defined personality and design aesthetic, we looked to mirror this aesthetic that has been developed over the last 17 years. It was important that the work spoke for itself, not overpowered by reams of text, and as the internet is such a visual medium, we wanted to give enough information to intrigue and attract potential customers, without overwhelming them. There is a combination of both commercial and private work, so it needed a structure that enhanced both, but allowed them to exist comfortably next to each other.
The Result
Pared back simplicity was that overriding request from the client, and we believe we’ve achieved that in spades. The site was built on the ExpressionEngine CMS, a user-friendly and inclusive platform. It is also an extremely secure CMS. The site is fully responsive for viewing on all devices. We tried to use language that is instantly comprehensible to all users, in a clear and structured manner. We incorporated imagery and graphics to further illustrate the messages employed and clear, concise terminology.
The website is an example of letting the work speak for itself. Their beautiful work is showcased through high-quality imagery, which allows for their design ethos to shine.
