Future Farm Lab
Overview
Future Farm Lab is a simulation-based learning platform for resilient agriculture, helping educators, organisations, and decision-makers shape the future of food. Supported by EIT Food and the European Union and built by MetaChef, Future Farm Lab is designed for organisations working across education, policy, and practice in the food system.
The Brief
Future Farm Lab presented a distinctive go-to-market challenge: a technically innovative edtech product that is adopted institutionally, delivered through a partner-driven distribution model, and targeted at audiences with varying levels of digital literacy and comfort with simulation-based learning.
This was a B2B institutional adoption challenge with commercial targets attached that needed to be developed quickly as the timeline was short and deliverables were required in late January. We recognised four critical factors that would determine success:
- Partners are the business model
- Multi-team coordination across competing priorities
- Commercial urgency, not soft launch
- Overcoming innovation resistance in traditional audiences
- A compressed timeline during the holiday period
The Process
Our approach was built around two project realities:
- Partners are the distribution engine
- The timeline required parallel, not sequential, production
With this in mind, we front-loaded alignment to remove ambiguity early and allow parallel production over the holiday period. We Targeted interviews with Partnerships, Learning Services, and central Marketing, conducted a competitor and benchmark scan (agtech/edtech/regenerative agriculture learning), reviewed existing FFL materials, messaging, and product narrative and identified partner adoption barriers, co-marketing requirements, and licensing considerations.
Outputs included validated messaging foundations, a clear decision-making and review framework, and agreed success metrics tied to partner adoption and licensing.
The process involved strategy development, development of a 12-Month communications & implementation plan, creation of all core materials using a unified visual system: executive one-pagers, five pitch decks, website copy/visuals, social/email templates, and a video integration plan, and finally, delivery of the partner toolkit and internal GTM resources: partner messaging, co-marketing templates, onboarding flow, CRM/pipeline guidance, analytics recommendations, and the GTM playbook.
The Result
Deliverables provided to Future Farm Labs include:
- Rapid Discovery & Alignment (stakeholder inputs, competitive scan, validated messaging foundations)
- Audience segmentation, personas, core messaging architecture
- Marketing Strategy (positioning, value proposition, messaging, channels, licensing alignment)
- Communications & Implementation Plan: modular design system; asset production (one-pagers, pitch decks, web copy/
- visuals, social/email templates)
- Partner Enablement Toolkit (partner package, onboarding flow, co-marketing templates, CRM/automation guidance) +
- Internal GTM Playbook
